Light Up Lathrup

Our Night to Shine!

UPDATED: Dec. 31, 2023

Let's come together again and Light Up Lathrup with Luminaries across the city. To be culturally inclusive, this event will take place on December 31, 2023, starting at 6 p.m.

Last year's Light Up Lathrup was a huge success with over 2,150 lights lining our streets. It was beautiful. Let's do it again and expand!

DONATIONS
To provide a uniform display, donations are being accepted to purchase supplies (white bags and battery-operated tea lights). It will be the responsibility of the resident to place sand, dirt or a small rock(s) in the bags to weigh them down. NOTE: For safety reasons, we will not use real fire/candles. Any donation amount is the right amount!

Kindly note "Light Up Lathrup" on any donation. Thank you to all our Donors who are making this possible!

DISPLAY
It is recommended that each residential property should display one bag every 4-6 feet of street frontage. Display will begin December 31, 2023, starting at 6 p.m. and should be removed January 1, 2024, by noon. The bags should be placed at the edge of your lawn to line the street. All materials should be recycled once removed from display.

DISTRIBUTION
There will be one distribution point, which will be located on a table in the lobby of City Hall. This supplies table will consist of bags, lights and instructions. Each resident may pick up as many lights and bags as recommended above based on honesty from the self-service table that will be located in the lobby of City Hall. For example, a standard residential property should acquire 6-8 lights and bags. If your property is larger, please plan accordingly. Supplies may be picked up at in the lobby of City Hall December 18, - December 29, 2023, during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Thereafter, supplies will be available December 30 - 31, 2023, at 27641 Lathrup Blvd. because City Hall will be closed.

SPREAD THE WORD
Not all residents are on social media or will read the weekly email newsletter from the city. Please be sure to spread the word to your friends and neighbors.
