DONATIONS FOR 2025 ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED!
UPDATED: September 17, 2025
We’re excited to share that donations for Light Up Lathrup 2025 are now being accepted—earlier than ever before! By opening donations early, we hope to make it easier for more residents to participate in this community tradition.
Your contribution helps us bring the magic of the season to life with luminaries for all to enjoy. Every donation makes a difference in creating the bright and joyful display.
Give early, shine brighter, and help make Light Up Lathrup 2025 the best one yet!

Let's come together again and Light Up Lathrup with Luminaries across the city. To be culturally inclusive, this event will take place on December 31, 2025, starting at 6 p.m.
SUPPLIES
To provide a uniform display, donations are being accepted to purchase supplies (white bags and battery-operated tea lights). It will be the responsibility of the resident to place sand, dirt or a small rock(s) in the bags to weigh them down. For safety reasons, we will not use real fire/candles.
NEW FOR 2025! White bags and tea lights will be distributed in groups of 10 for $10+. Above and beyond donations are always welcome.

Kindly note "Light Up Lathrup" on any donation. Thank you to all our Donors who are making this possible!
DISPLAY
It is recommended that each residential property display one bag every 6-8 feet of street frontage. Display will begin December 31, 2025, starting at 6 p.m. and should be removed January 1, 2026, by noon. The bags should be placed at the edge of your lawn to line the street. All materials should be recycled once removed from display.
DISTRIBUTION
We are currently developing a new distribution plan for 2025. It has come to our attention that some individuals picking up supplies have not contributed to the fund. To ensure fairness, we will be updating the distribution process for the upcoming year. More details will be shared soon—thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
SPREAD THE WORD
Not all residents are on social media or will read the weekly email newsletter from the city. Please be sure to spread the word to your friends and neighbors.
